Retail
Why work in the retail industry?

With a retail career, no two days are ever the same, and there is always something to do. Often, when people think of a job in retail, they only think of being a cashier or sales associate, but retail careers offer many exciting growth opportunities for full-time, year-round employment.
The products sold in stores have to be bought from manufacturers, whether they are clothing, equipment, or food & drink. Transportation and shipments have to be coordinated to keep those goods in stores. Computer systems and websites need to be maintained across a network of stores and their locations. Store displays need to be designed and built to maximize space and entice customers in the door. These roles and more could be filled by someone just like you.

And like many other tourism careers, retail offers the opportunity to start in an entry-level role and gain the experience needed for many different high-level positions. Many careers in retail prefer applicants with the customer service and technical skills gained from early positions before hiring them for marketing, creative, and logistical areas of the industry. Starting at the bottom ensures that you know what's needed when you get to the top!
