About Us:
Join the Megantic Fish & Game Club, an exclusive fly-fishing preserve on 22,000 acres of pristine Maine wilderness. This unique opportunity allows interns to participate and enjoy some of Maine’s most beautiful conserved natural settings. The club membership is a group of 100 very private families who come to recreate at Big Island Camps- a set of finely maintained antique log cabins along Big Island Lake. Our operations team ensures the smooth running of Big Island Camps — a set of historic log cabins serving 100 private member families who come to fish, hike, and unplug. Students of all majors who wish to develop professional skills in a pristine outdoor setting are encouraged to apply.

What You’ll Do:
Our Operations Interns will rotate daily through three key roles: Gatehouse Attendant, Dining Service Crew, and Housekeeping Assistant. This variety keeps every day fresh, fun, and engaging. Here’s a glimpse of what’s involved:

-Greeting and verifying guest arrivals.
-Coordinating boat pickups for members.
-Collecting dinner preferences and notifying the kitchen.
-Controlling access to the preserve by operating the entry gate.
-Ensuring only authorized persons gain entry.

2. Dining Service Crew
Support dining operations for breakfast and dinner (no lunch service) in a low-pressure, friendly environment. Duties include:
-Prepping breakfast items (coffee, yogurt, fruit, etc.).
-Taking orders and serving meals at breakfast and dinner.
-Assisting the kitchen team with food prep and communication.
-Setting tables, sweeping, and maintaining a clean dining area.
-Washing and drying dishes after meals.
-Coordinating guest fishing departures with boat operators.

3. Housekeeping Assistant
-Maintain the cleanliness and comfort of our 11 club cabins. Duties include:
-Performing daily "refreshes" of cabins (sweeping, trash removal, making beds, and cleaning bathrooms).
-Cleaning and turning over cabins for new arrivals.
-Supporting the setup and cleaning of private camps for occasional guests.
-Handling linens (bagging, washing, storing) and cleaning kitchen towels.
